History of the Company
Spook Less is the registered name of Sersland-Hedden, LLC, a limited liability company founded in Franklin, Tennessee. Its owners have adjoining home property in the equestrian-rich area of Williamson County. The company was formed in mid-2003 when Ken and Gary discussed the idea after church services.

Why We Created the Product
Spook Less founder Ken Sersland says, "This is a piece of the training process that is missing." It is widely known that repetitive exposure to frightening sounds will diminish a horse's urge to flee, and that a "spookless" horse is a good thing. However, until now, there has been no specific product available to fulfill this need.

The obvious solution was to make recordings of the specific bothersome sounds and play them back repetitively. Although many have thought of doing this, it was a very difficult task requiring a unique collaboration of an experienced equestrian and a skilled audio engineer.

Our product is avaiable as a CD, and also at most online music services. The audio CD has some distinct features which make it the ideal solution. Sound conditioning can be done in many convenient places by simply using a battery-operated "boom box" player, which now is readily available with a CD drive. Sound stimulation can work well in a large or small space, indoors or out, near or far. In contrast, trying to desensitize a horse to visual stimuli is impossible as a "playback" training technique because a video screen is so limited in size. In addition, the CD makes it possible to randomize and repeat the sounds without deteriorating the media. This is not the case with cassette tape playback.
